Jobs For People Who Have Been Out Of Work
![]()
Most employers are very reluctant to hire someone who hasn’t worked for several months or years. The odds are against the company that you will be a reliable employee for a long period of time. They also know that it probably will take you some time to get back in a productive routine, plus you might lack the latest knowledge of your trade.
But there are several ways you can improve your chances and maybe even turn your unemployment around to make it an advantage.
First you should look at the situation from the employer’s point of view. What he needs to run a successful business are reliable and skilled employees, so that’s what you have to convince him that you are. You can do that by spending some time and energy learning about the latest development in your trade.
Are there any new tools in the trade, get a demonstration from the firms who sell them. Are there any new products in the line of business, learn as much as you can about them. There is a lot of information available through the internet, which you are on right now. There are even free business courses you can take.
Whatever the reason has been for your unemployment, and there could be very good reasons, you will score a lot of points at a job interview if you can say:
“Sir, I spend a great part of my time as unemployed on keeping my knowledge up to date, but not only that. I realized, that being a good employee also meant to understand the problems that my boss is facing, so that I really can work in his interest. I therefore took some additional courses in business economy and leadership in order to increase my knowledge, and I now fully understand that my employer’s problems are my problems too. I have also looked into the current competition in the market to understand what’s important for your company. I believe I am fit for fight.”
Such a statement will be sweet talk in an employer’s ear. He is not used to employees wanting to look at things from his point of view.
Most people are looking for the job which pays most. But the reality is that those, who are paid most, are those who the company will not risk to lose.
The world is always on the look-out for efficient people. Success is not so much a question of luck as it is a question of knowledge and skill. Whatever your present situation is, there is always a way you can improve yourself. It is the clever people who are headhunted. Not the people who regard their job as a bare necessity.
Whatever You Want, You Have To Be Willing To Do What It Takes To Get It!
